What kind of venue is best for live events?
The best venue is one that is ADA accessible, has excellent parking, and is well-known in the community. One large room works well, whether in a community center, conference room, church, or school. It’s great when audience members can have a meal together in the same room that they watch the play and have their discussion.
Will audience members REALLY participate in small group conversations?
Yes! We have had the pleasure of every audience being engaged in conversation and providing unique insights, questions, and observations.
How do we get local newspapers to carry the story?
With our easy to complete press releases, you can submit stories that are ready for publication along with a dynamic photo. This increases the chance that the stories will run. Plus, our team is happy to provide an interview to local journalists – print, radio, podcast, blog and television. Some communities ask for their newspapers to donate a display ad or dedicate a budget for printing ads and posters.
Should we have table hosts to help encourage conversation?
We discourage this strategy. In fact, our experience is that when a table host is present it actually seems to permit or encourage audience members to sit back or defer to the “expert” at the table!
Wouldn’t a live event be best on a real stage?
Actually, no. These plays are MOST effective when the audience is close to the action and as little space as possible separates the actors from the audience. The stories are powerfully shared by professional actors and it is so special to see live theatre in a community venue that audience member seem to feel extremely comfortable in their post-show conversations.
How much does this cost?
Pricing can vary depending upon a variety of factors, including type of event (virtual or live), location, the number of events, and the selected play. Please get in touch with us and we will provide you with a specific quote. Use this Interest Form to help provide preliminary information.
What does the host committee have to provide?
The host committee will work closely with The Remember Project staff to select an appropriate venue, distribute public relations information, take reservations, and ensure that a light meal is provided at the start of each event. Host committees provide:
- One or two members of your host committee to help welcome and thank audience members, sponsors and partners.
- Meal for the performance company and facilitator
- Assist with distribution and collection of evaluation materials
- Lodging (one room per person) and hospitality if an overnight is required.
- Four parking spaces
How big does the playing area need to be?
20’ x 12’ is generally sufficient, though In the Garden has some additional space needs
How long does the event run?
Two and one-half hours.
Do you handle marketing?
The host committee handles all public relations. The Remember Project provides template for a press release and posters. The primary form of marketing is to use the organization’s list of clients, partners, supporters, and local media outlets
How many people usually attend?
It depends! We have performed to groups of 20 to 200 people.
Is this appropriate for all ages?
Ages 13 and up.
Can we arrange more than one performance?
Yes. Typically, we perform once during the lunch hour and a second time during the dinner hour, however, we have also performed for breakfast and mid-morning events as well.
What kind of set up is required?
Basic technical requirements include a dressing room and general lighting. Sometimes, the touring company prefers to use the host venue’s sound system rather than our portable one. (Sound to accommodate up to 4 actors). Also, it’s great to have the help of two host committee members to field questions during the facilitated conversation. We can provide a full list of requirements in response to your request.
Do program expansion opportunities exist?
The Remember Project’s theatrical videos provide a platform and proven pathway for communities to host virtual events. In addition to three programs for the general public, our team customizes the program for professional development, young adults, faith communities, and the business sector. Regional program partnerships offer a broad pathway to raising awareness and reducing the stigma, fear, and isolation related to memory loss. Partnerships can be created within existing AAA regions or developed around the market reach of healthcare organizations, library federations, care communities, and many other creative partnerships.
